The week builds itself.

Copy last week or let Fill the week draft shifts from everyone’s availability. Every shift is checked for clashes, then one button sends the roster to your team’s phones.

On AI Plus, an AI manager drafts changes for you to confirm.

An example roster for Mon 12 to Sun 18 Oct: 18 shifts for Dev, Mia, Ava, Sam and Chloe, on counter, prep, cakes, cones and close. Example data.

Rostering shouldn’t live in a group chat.

Most small shops run the roster on a spreadsheet, a screenshot and a lot of messages. It works, until it doesn’t.

The roster is a screenshot.
Staff scroll back through the group chat to find this week’s, and last week’s is still floating around.
Clashes turn up on the day.
Someone’s on leave, has school until 3:30 or is rostered twice, and nobody notices until the shift.
Every week starts from scratch.
The same puzzle, rebuilt by hand, usually late on a Sunday night.
Every change is a message to you.
“Can’t do Saturday.” “Can I have next Friday off?” It all lands on your phone, at all hours.

From a blank week to everyone’s phone

Start from last week, fix what’s changed and publish. Every shift is checked on the way.

  1. Build

Copy last week, or let Fill the week draft shifts from everyone’s availability. Move shifts by dragging or with the keyboard.

  2. Check

Every shift is checked against leave, availability, overlaps, rest between shifts and the junior rules you set. Each warning says exactly what’s wrong.

  3. Publish

One button. Your team sees their shifts in the app, gets a reminder before each one and can sync them to their own calendar.

A week, built in minutesThe free trial is the quickest way to look around.

A week of shifts, rostered and published.

See it on every screen

Build next week’s roster on your laptop, check it for clashes and publish. Your team gets their shifts, reminders and calendar on their phones.

Example data

Clashes caught before anyone sees them

Rosters go wrong in small ways: a shift on someone’s day off, a junior kept too late. The app checks every shift as you go and tells you in plain words, so nothing goes out with a clash nobody saw.

AI proposes. You decide.

AI Plus

An AI manager for the fiddly parts of the week. It drafts, and you check what it suggests the way you’d check a new supervisor’s work.

  • Ask in plain words: “Fill Saturday and give Mia more weekend shifts.”
  • Every change comes back as a proposal with a before and after. You confirm it or dismiss it.
  • It never publishes the roster, messages your team or changes pay on its own.
  • Staff can type their availability in words, then check what it understood.

The AI manager comes with AI Plus, and everything works without it. It works with names, shifts and availability, never dates of birth, pay, contact details or notes. More on how your data is handled.

Works with the calendars your team already uses

Shifts land where people already look, and moving from another rostering app takes one file.

  • Google Calendar

Each person can connect their Google Calendar. Their shifts appear there and stay up to date when the roster changes.

  • Calendar feed

A private link for Apple Calendar, Outlook or any app that subscribes to calendars.

  • Import your staff list

Bring your team across with the CSV export from your current app, as it is, or a simple spreadsheet:

    • Deputy
    • Tanda
    • Employment Hero
    • When I Work
    • RosterElf

Everything in Shiftee

Core includes all of it except the AI manager, which comes with AI Plus. Unlimited staff on every plan.

Rostering

  • People, area and day views

See the week by person or by area, or one busy day hour by hour.

  • Drag, or use the keyboard

Move and copy shifts by dragging, or with the keyboard and menus. Nothing needs a mouse.

  • Copy last week

Start from last week’s roster and change what’s different.

  • Week templates

Save a usual week as a template and start any week from it.

  • Fill the week

Shows which shifts the week still needs and drafts them from availability and your rules. Every suggestion says why, and you accept or reject each one. No AI involved.

  • Coverage targets

Set how many people each area needs and when, and see where the week is short.

  • Open shifts on the roster

Shifts nobody is on yet sit in their own row, so gaps are obvious.

  • Undo and redo

Every change to the roster can be undone, so trying an idea is safe.

  • Publish with a summary

See who’s affected before you publish. Changes after publishing are marked until you publish again.

  • Print the week

A printable roster for the staffroom wall.

  • Find cover

Find who can take an open shift, with the people best suited first.

  • Staff confirm their shifts

After you publish, staff confirm their shifts and you can see who hasn’t yet.

Checks before you publish

  • Leave and availability

A shift on someone’s approved leave blocks publishing. A shift outside their availability is a warning.

  • Overlaps and rest

Double bookings and too little rest between shifts are flagged as you build.

  • Hours and limits

Daily and weekly hours, days in a row, shortest shifts and breaks, checked against limits you set.

  • Junior and school rules

Set school hours, term dates and limits for under-18s. The rules are yours to set; the app checks the roster against them.

  • Opening hours

A shift outside the shop’s opening hours is flagged.

  • Qualifications

Say which areas need a qualification, such as food safety, and see who’s missing one or has one that’s expired.

  • Qualification expiry warnings

See qualifications that are about to expire before they cause a gap.

  • Reasons for exceptions

Need to publish anyway? Add a reason, and it’s kept with the roster.

The staff app

  • Home and next shift

Their next shift up front: when, where and who they’re working with.

  • My shifts

Upcoming and past shifts, grouped by week.

  • No app store

It runs in the browser and can be added to the home screen.

  • Open shifts and swaps

Staff pick up open shifts and arrange swaps from their phone; you approve them with the checks already done.

Availability and leave

  • Availability

Staff set when they can and can’t work, repeating weekly or for one day.

  • A month calendar

Each person plans when they can and can’t work on a month calendar, with the hours they’d like.

  • Leave requests

Staff ask for time off from their phone. You approve or decline, and the roster knows.

  • School holidays

Ask staff which school-holiday days they can work. Their answers become availability.

  • One place for requests

Leave, availability changes and school-holiday answers wait for you in one list.

Reminders and messages

  • Shift reminders

A notification before each shift, on phones that allow it. Each person picks how early.

  • Announcements

Post a note to the whole team, one location or one area, and ask people to confirm they’ve read it.

  • Publish notifications

When you publish, the people affected hear about their changes, with a warning before short-notice changes.

  • Test notification

Send yourself a test notification to check this phone gets them.

Calendars and imports

  • Google Calendar

Each person can connect their Google Calendar. Their shifts appear there and stay up to date.

  • Calendar feed

A private link for Apple Calendar, Outlook or any app that subscribes to calendars.

  • Import your staff list

Use the CSV from Deputy, Tanda, Employment Hero, When I Work or RosterElf as it is, or a simple spreadsheet.

Your team and your data

  • One sign-up link

Share a link in the staff group chat. People make their own login and you approve them.

  • Roles

Owners, managers, supervisors and staff each see what they need.

  • Two-step verification

Owners can be required to use an authenticator app when they log in.

  • A record of changes

Publishing, edits after publishing, role changes and exports are logged.

  • Export everything

Owners can download all of the business’s data as spreadsheets at any time.

  • Stored in Australia

Your data is kept in Sydney, separate from every other business.

  • Add another shop

Run another shop from the same login, on its own plan.

  • Sign in with Google or Microsoft

Log in with the work account you already have.

Time and attendance

  • Time clock

Clock in and out on a shared tablet with a PIN.

  • Timesheets

Rostered against actual hours, ready to approve and export.

The AI manager

  • Ask in plain words

“Fill Saturday and give Mia more weekend shifts.” It drafts the changes and you confirm each one.

  • Availability in words

Staff type when they can work, and see what it understood before saving.

  • Never on its own

It never publishes the roster, messages your team or changes pay.

Questions

How does the free trial work?

You get 14 days free with everything in AI Plus, and no card is needed to start. After that, choose Core or AI Plus. There are no minimums and you can cancel any time.

Do my staff need to download an app?

No. Shiftee runs in the phone’s web browser, and staff can add it to their home screen so it opens like an app. Reminders arrive as notifications.

Does it work out award rates or pay?

No. Shiftee doesn’t calculate pay or give award or legal advice. Rules such as hours for under-18s are set by your business, and the app checks the roster against them.

What does the AI manager do?

It drafts changes, such as filling the week or reading availability written in plain words, and you confirm each one. It never publishes the roster, messages your team or changes pay on its own. It’s included in AI Plus.

Is there a limit on staff or locations?

No. Both plans include unlimited staff and locations, and the price doesn’t change as your team grows. See pricing.

Can I bring my team across from another app?

Yes. Import the staff CSV from Deputy, Tanda, Employment Hero, When I Work or RosterElf as it is, or a simple spreadsheet with names. Then share one sign-up link so everyone makes their own login.

Where is my data stored?

In Sydney, Australia. Each business’s data is kept separate, and owners can download all of it at any time. Read more about security.
